Description:
Royal Melbourne Golf Club is widely regarded as Australia's most prestigious, exclusive, oldest and celebrated golf club. Its two courses are each ranked amongst the best in the world by numerous international golf course ranking bodies and publications.

Influenced by his time with Dr Mackenzie, Mr Alex Russell designed the East Course. It was laid out during 1930-1 and with Mr Mick Morcom in charge of construction was ready for play in 1932.

The West course was designed in 1926 by the renowned Scottish golf architect, Dr Alister Mackenzie. Working with the help of Mr Alex Russell and Mr Mick Morcom (Head Greenkeeper), the course design by Dr Mackenzie was opened for play in 1931.

The Composite Course came into being in 1959 when Royal Melbourne was asked to hold the Canada Cup (now the World Cup). It was decided to use 12 holes from the West Course and 6 holes from the East Course to keep the new Composite Course within the confines of the home paddock. Since then, the Composite Course has been the site for many international Tournaments and is regularly rated in the world's top ten courses.
Course location: Melbourne region of VIC
